Classy - Chassis Car Show,

Historic Poplar Grove Plantation’s

Classy-Chassis Car Show
&
Country Flea Market

Saturday, July 11th, 2009
9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

With fuzzy dice, chrome fins, and a four on the floor these babies were born to ride. Vintage cars and trucks compete for top awards on Saturday, July 11th at the summer’s best car show. Mark your calendar for a full day of classic cars, shopping, music, food, and fun.

At the Classy – Chassis Car Show, re-visit the days when speed and performance were king. Proud owners show off their sweet rides, with the beautiful plantation in the background. Registered vehicles are judged inside and out, by an independent panel of experts. It’s a challenge for sure, to pick the winners. Each car or truck is in mint condition, so pristine even the engines sparkle. Awards are given to those with the highest ratings at the 3PM ceremony, emceed by Sunny 104.5FM’s Brian White. A classic car fan himself, Brian has been the official Classy-Chassis emcee since the show first began in 2005.

The Country Flea Market opens at 9AM with vendors selling new and used goods, attic treasures, collectibles and crafts. From 10AM until noon meet 106.3 & 93.7FM’s Suzzee Toon when she broadcasts the “Radio Classifieds” live from the market.

This year, the pasture next to the Cultural Arts Center is a spectacle of antique tractors. It’s a fitting display for the historic peanut plantation and a treat for farm fans. Paying a mid-year visit from Poplar Grove’s Halloween Festival, fortune tellers Madame von Sloopenstein and Madam Deborah will be in their cabins reading palms and tarot cards.

With all the shade trees at Poplar Grove it can still be pretty hot in July. To cool off, there’s an ice cream parlor serving cones and sundaes in the air-conditioned barn. It’s a great place to rest your feet and enjoy the oldies. You can pick up a snack or lunch at one of the food booths, and then people-watch from a picnic table.

Admission is free. Donations to to the non-profit Poplar Grove foundation or the Hampstead Fire Department are appreciated. Proceeds from the 50/50 raffle benefit the foundation. Vehicles from 1980 and older may pre-register up until June 30th for $15, after that registration is $20 and ends at noon on July 11th. The award ceremony takes place at 3PM.
The historic plantation is located at 10200 US Highway 17 north at the New Hanover – Pender County line. Sandy beaches, wonderful restaurants, great shopping, attractions and accommodations are only minutes away. For information visit www.poplargrove.com or call 910.686.9518.
