The Creative Artists of Hampstead Annual Exhibition and sale at Poplar Grove is a great place to pick up original works in all categories from oil paintings to wood turnings. Local artists display a broad range of stylistic interpretations in traditional and uncommon forms. Find hidden treasures and up and coming talent. In addition to the fine art on display, there are demonstrations, several book signings and a silent auction. It's a relaxed, informal atmosphere, where you can learn about the artists in our midst, while supporting the arts, domestic violence and Poplar Grove Foundation. Free public admission. Fee to display.

Master Gardener Fall Plant Sale Sept. 16, 8am - 1pmIn conjunction with the Poplar Grove Farmer's MarketFall is the perfect time of the year to garden! Cooler temperatures and lower humidity not only make being outdoors more pleasant for people, it also reduces stress on new plantings, making it more likely they will establish successfully and thrive in the future. In fact, fall (Oct–Dec) is the best time to plant trees, shrubs, and perennials in the Southeast! To help you prepare for the fall planting season, Pender County Master Gardeners will be holding a fall plant sale in combination with the Poplar Grove Farmer’s Market from 8am to 1pm, Wednesday, September 16. The sale will feature plants home grown by Pender County Master Gardeners with a focus on varieties that have grown well in their yards over the years. Additional plants will be available for purchase from Farmer’s Market vendors and shoppers can expect to find a bounty of annuals, houseplants, perennials, herbs, and woody plants available for purchase at the market on the 16th.
In addition, Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions about lawn, garden, and landscape care, including pest and weed identification. Handouts on a variety of garden and landscape topics will be available, along with soil testing supplies.
