Scherenschnitte - er !

Dottie Netherton brings the centuries-old art of scherenschnitte to Poplar Grove’s Farmers Market. Scherenschnitte is the German art of decorative papercutting. Dottie took up the craft 25 years ago when she first moved to Greensboro from Pennsylvania Dutch country. “I wanted to carry the craft on, as no one at that time was doing it here” says Dottie. Her work is delightful. Using small sharp scissors, she cuts her motifs with amazing precision, most often from a single piece of paper. Her images incorporate nature, animals, birds, and hearts, all set within a fancy background of decorative scroll cuts or scenery. She even has a skeleton scherenschnitte for Halloween enthusiasts. Come see Dottie’s beautiful work. Original designs are available framed. Prints are also available as note cards. Dottie’s prices are reasonable, and the scherenschnitte is a great gift when you're looking for something different and special.
